Anthony Hudson is currently the Manager of Newport County AFC after joining from Tottenham Hotspur. Prior to returning to England he became Manager for professional team Real Maryland FC who play in the United Soccer League in America, the level below the MLS. He has become one of the youngest head coaches in the States at 27, after being offered the job to leave the Wilmington Hammerheads, also of the United Soccer League, where he served as player/assistant head coach. He took over Real Maryland, who were at the bottom of the league and lead them to the 2008 Play Offs, earning him a nomination for Coach of Year.
He started his career at West Ham United under Tony Carr and Harry Redknapp. Signing as a YTS and playing for a famous and successful Academy team which included Michael Carrick and Joe Cole to name but a few and playing with the likes of Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand.
He played on loan at Luton Town FC under manager Lenny Lawrence. He then moved to Holland, signing professional terms for Dutch 1st division team NEC Nijmegen under the now Aberdeen manager, Jimmy Calderwood.
His interests turned to coaching which has seen him obtain several coaching licenses including the UEFA ‘A’ license from the English Football Association, alongside and on the same course as some of the biggest names in the game, including Sunderland manager Roy Keane.
''Hudson is currently on the UEFA Pro License with the English FA.''
He was a guest speaker at the world’s largest gathering of soccer coaches – The NSCAA 2008 National Coaches Convention, in Baltimore - being one of the youngest speakers there. Other guest speakers were Steve McLaren, England psychologist Bill Beswick and former Liverpool coach Gerard Houllier to name but a few.
He has spoken at several different events including coaching conferences, local prisons, and schools. He has written for several publications including, Success in Soccer and Soccer Journal.
